The Clonmel Arms Hotel site will play a huge role in the revitalisation of the town centre.
That’s the view of local County Councillor and estate agent John Fitzgerald.
Planning was granted for a 100 bed hotel with a large part of the Sarsfield Street property now demolished.
The property changed hands around 12 months ago with Councillor Fitzgerald telling Tipp Today earlier that a new planning application is expected shortly.
“Even though its still a cavity in the town it now is awaiting fresh planning for a new development there I understand of mixed usage. The devil of that will be in the detail because it hasn’t been lodged.
“Like everything now in the town centre it has to be rethought in terms of economics of scale – how it can work as a more scaled back hotel but also with residential and retail.”
