Murphy to highlight need for more funding from central government

A local candidate for the general election is going to the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party ‘think-in ‘ today.

Clonmel Mayor Michael Murphy is running in the new three-seater Tipperary South Constituency.

He’s travelling to Offaly to speak at the event which is being held over two days.

He says he’s going to be meeting with all the senior party figures and campaigning for Tipperary and the whole region.

Councillor Murphy will be telling the Fine Gael parliamentary party that rural counties like Tipperary need more funding from central government.

He says more powers and funding needs to be restored to local authorities like Tipperary county Council.

The date of the upcoming general election is expected to dominate discussions at the ‘think-in’.
