There are calls for Saturday parking charges in Clonmel to be permanently removed.
Councillor Pat English says the move would encourage footfall in the town and support local traders.
He told Clonmel District Council that businesses in the town are finding it difficult to trade under the current economic downturn.
Clonmel District Council said the free weekend car parking will return for the month of December as usual, as part of Christmas preparations.
