Tributes continue to be paid to Joe Bourke as he is being laid to rest this afternoon in Templemore.
A special meeting of the Thurles Municipal District – of which he was elected Cathaoirleach in 2016 – was held this morning in advance of his Funeral.
It was convened in the new Templemore Library which was officially opened in the old Town Hall last year but which he’d played a big role in redeveloping.
Former Fianna Fail Cllr John Hogan says Joe was respected by all because he was more interested in getting things done than playing party politics.
Sitting Fine Gael Cllr Willie Kennedy paid tribute to how Joe managed to balance his family, business and public life despite the challenges he faced.
