Long awaited flood alleviation works for a local community on the slopes of Slievenamon have taken a major step forward.
The situation at Mount Cahill near Kilcash has been dragging on for some time.
However local Fianna Fáil Councillor Siobhan Ambrose has told Tipp FM that works will hopefully be getting underway in the coming weeks.
“So good news with the announcement that the contracts now have been signed for flood alleviation works at Mount Cahill in Kilcash.
“Residents in the area have been on to me for several years now with respect to the flooding issues in this area and I’m delighted to say now that the contract has been signed between the Council and Triur Construction for these flood alleviation works to be carried out.
Councillor Ambrose says the works are set to commence this month.
“We have no definitive date but the contractors are hoping to start at some stage this month. And hopefully once these works have been completed it will end the years of flooding in the Mount Cahill area.”
