A local Councillor is calling for a special meeting for South Tipperary Councillors to discuss why the local authority is not serving the needs of the people of Clonmel in particular.
Independent representative Niall Dennehy was opposed to the merger of North and South Tipp County Councils when it was first mooted.
On Tipp Today earlier he outlined why he still thinks that Clonmel Borough District should divorce itself from Nenagh.
“We’re a sub-committee that has no powers and no money.
“The anger out there at the state of our capital town is universal and I am asking the Cathaoirleach as first citizen to convene a special meeting of this CBD – not a workshop – and that we have it with our three TDs and two Senators from the South Tipperary constituency as soon as is possible.
“And as I have said we need to file divorce proceedings immediately to exit from this shotgun wedding with Nenagh from 2013.”
