The public are being encouraged to get involved in the drafting of a new County Development Plan for Tipperary.

The Plan for 2022-2028 would be the first to provide a spatial planning framework for the entire county, following the merging of the south and north councils.

The Council is urging people to submit their thoughts, in writing or online, before Monday, November 16th on how they want the county to develop over that seven year period.

Nuala O’Connell from Tipperary County Council says they’re eager to develop Tipperary’s villages into a vibrant living and working environment.

“There’s also villages that face challenges in terms of loss of services – post offices obviously being one of them and Garda stations.”

“So what we really want to drive is an initiative to attract people back into rural villages. Really this is about housing choice and meeting the needs of all sectors of our population.”
