Concerns raised about development works in Cashel town centre

Local activist and former County Councillor Tom Wood says work has commenced today on redeveloping the Plaza.

While welcoming aspects of the project Tom Wood told Tipp Today he has major reservations about some of the works.

“The sad thing about it will be the fact that the six beautiful trees that are here on the Plaza – they’re going to be cut down and removed. We’re also told that there will be concrete benches put in as seating and that part of the Plaza if not all of the Plaza is going to be covered so that people could play music or whatever.

“But you know if you cover a place like that in the centre of town it’s not always musicians and dancers and singers are going to be there – you could have problems at night time.”
