Backlash against council plans for St Patrick’s cemetery Clonmel

Plans to ban cars from St. Patrick’s cemetery in Clonmel are coming under fire yet again.

The plans were initially mooted back in 2015 but, due to public outcry, they were scrapped until now.

By the end of September, the Clonmel Borough Council says it will go ahead with plans to limit the traffic entering the cemetery to hearses alone, creating a car parking facility adjacent to the cemetery as well steps to access the site.

There are worries that the new restrictions will limit visitation for the elderly or the disabled.
