State exam results will be released at schools right across the Premier County with most opening their doors to pupils from 9 am.
Overall nationwide thre's been a hike in the numbers who sat science and math papers while Higher Level Irish is also up 7 percent.
Schools may still be out for the summer but this morning – quiet hallways and classrooms- will once again be filled with the sounds of students as leaving cert classes across the county receive their results –
Congratulating them, Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan said it was wonderful so many will receive grades that reflect the dedication and hard work they invested at second level.
The numbers who sat the exams nationwide are up on 2014- at just shy of 58 thousand.
The 15 subjects with the highest participation rates are unchanged but there has been a hike in the numbers who sat Stem subjects; Science, technology, engineering and mathematics – with over 27 percent taking the Higher level math paper.
The numbers who sat Higher Level Irish is also up.
There had been a particular focus placed on improving rates in these subjects and speaking to Tipp FM, Minister O'Sullivan, has welcomed the trend.
While the vast majority of students receiving results today are in their teenage years – for some today represents a brave choice to return to education or indeed complete state exams for the first time- Something the minister has huge praise for.
Results are available from 9am this morning.
