Between them South Tipp General and University Hospital Limerick account for nearly 30% of the 232 patients across the country without a bed this lunchtime.
It's been an extremely difficult week for frontline staff at Tipperary's main hospital.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation 30 patients who have been admitted from the Emergency Department at South Tipp General are without a bed today….the second highest figure in the country.
Yesterday there were 27, on Tuesday it was the busiest in the country with 31 while on Monday the trolley watch figure for the Clonmel hospital was 21.
Today the nursing union reports 20 patients on trolleys or chairs while 10 are in overflow areas of wards.
University Hospital Limerick – which serves North Tipp – is the worst hit by overcrowding today with 38 people in need of a bed…24 of these are on trolleys.
Earlier this week year-on-year figures showed a huge increase in the overcrowding problem in Clonmel last month – in July of 2015 58 patients were treated on trolleys or chairs while last month that number stood at 314.
In Limerick the figure for last month was 649 – up from 495 in July 2015.
