An inquest into the death of Mary-Kate Kelly yesterday ruled she died as a result of 'medical misadventure'.

Her mother Amy Delahunt, from Borrisoleigh, had been given the all clear by Portlaoise General Hospital after having a scan there, the next day she was told by a midwife at Limerick Regional Hospital that her baby had died in utero.

The inquest heard from a consultant that Mary Kate would have been born alive if doctors in Portlaoise had acted on the results of the CTG scan.

Amy says she has to live with her decision for the rest of her life.
