The Lakeside Hotel in Ballina has been granted an extension of time on its plans to build a number of apartments on the site.

Permission was first granted in 2011 by the then North Tipperary County Council for 7 apartments to be built on the grounds of the Lakeside Hotel on the shores of Lough Derg.

However due to what parent company Montravia Limited describe as the depressed market conditions over the past few years the development did not start.

They recently sought permission for an extension of the planning permission which was due to lapse last month saying they intend to commence work shortly.

Tipp County Council has approved this application – permission for the works on the site of the tennis court is now in place until May of 2019.
