Operation Interdiction is aimed at reducing the amount of burglaries that happen during daytime hours. Since the start of the year there has been a spike in the amount of robberies reported.
Checkpoints will be mounted across the county as part of the operation, looking for evidence of criminal activity including stolen goods and possible weapons.
Inspector Eddie Golden is appealing to drivers who come across the checkpoints to have patience.
He said: “We would ask people to co-operate with the checkpoints…try not to try and warn people of those checkpoints.
“We’re trying to prevent crime in Tipperary. We want all the members of the public to assist us in doing that which they have done in 2014 and going forward into 2015.
“Again if you see the checkpoints you may be delayed for a few moments but the purpose of this is to stop criminality.”
