Hundreds of beef farmers in Tipperary are set to start a 24 hour protest outside meat factories this afternoon.
IFA members are holding the action outside 29 meat plants across the country from 3 o’clock this afternoon until 3 tomorrow afternoon.
In Tipperary, farmers will be outside three meat plants; ABP in Cahir and Nenagh and the Ashbourne meat plant in Roscrea.
The action is being taken in response to the price that farmers are being paid for their product from the factories, they say it’s a euro per kilo lower here than in the North.
IFA national livestock chairman Henry Burns says farmers felt they had no choice but to hold demonstrations.
