Clive Clarke's farm in Dunkerrin has been targeted six times in recent years, the latest robbery took place this week with 12 thousand euro worth of tools and equipment taken
The father of two says he is terrified in his own home now
An upset and emotional Clive Clarke spoke to Fran Curry on Tipp Today this morning about this latest theft from his farm in Barna, Dunkerrin this week.
The criminals broke into his property on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning and made off with up to 12 thousand euro worth of goods, including a car trailer, quad bike, welding equipment, tools and even took Clive's butcher knives.
The farmer, who has been robbed on repeated occasions over the years, says he no longer feels safe in his own home.
Save Our Local Community group, which was set up by a group of crime victims in Tipperary last year says the problem of roving criminal gangs targeting rural areas is not getting any better.
Chairman Robert O'Shea says while it didn't seem to be a key issue during the General Election, the problem is still widespread.
Clive Clarke has spent a significant amount of money in recent years on security measures for his farm in North Tipperary; this week, the thieves cut through the security fencing to gain access to his yard.
He told Fran Curry that nothing seems to deter these people and the only solution he can see is more resources for Gardaí
The Save our Local Community group held a lengthy meeting with the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald last December where she pledged several measures aimed at targeting roving criminal gangs.
However, Robert O'Shea says they haven't seen any of these improvements on the ground, but his group are determined to keep the pressure on whoever is next into the Department of Justice.
