Tipp Council urged to take greater role in Suir estuary

The area of tidal water fails to fall under the jurisdiction of any relevant body, including the local authority, Inland Waterways or any statutory authority. 

The issue was raised at this week's meeting of the Carrick on Suir municipal district where members were told that the local Business Development Association and other interested parties were looking into it.

But Sinn Fein's David Dunne says it can't be left to these groups and the local authority needs to take a role too.
