The Tipperary Chair of the Oireachtas Sports Committee says it ‘beggars belief’ that Camogie players are being forced to wear ‘skorts’.

Local Labour TD Alan Kelly says he’s inviting the Camogie Association before the committee to deal with the issue ‘once and for all’.

It follows a protest at the Leinster semi-final on Saturday, when players were ordered back into the dressing room to change, after wearing shorts onto the pitch.

Tánaiste Simon Harris is among those calling for the rules to be updated to reflect players’ preferences.

North Tipperary Labour TD Alan Kelly is chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Media, Culture, Communications and Sport.

He says it’s wrong that camogie players are being forced to wear something they say is uncomfortable and not fit for purpose.
