This compares with 50 dwelling completions in the same period last year – an increase of 14%

Nationally over 4,400 units have been finished across the country between April and June – an increase of 34% on the second quarter of 2017.

Over three quarters were in urban areas, with Dublin and the Mid-East making up 60 per cent – while Dublin 15 was the area with the most completions.

Despite the increase, new builds are likely at this point to fall short of the estimated 20 to 30 thousand needed per year.
