Tipp Peace Prize winners deny links to ISIS

The winners of the 2016 Tipperary International Peace Prize have distanced themselves from claims they have links with ISIS.

The Syrian Civil Defence were presented with the award at a ceremony at Ballykisteen Hotel yesterday afternoon.

The White Helmets as they’re known were honoured for their work in the war torn country.

Around 16 protestors gathered outside the hotel during yesterday’s event.

They were opposed to the Peace Prize being presented to the White Helmets.

Among them was Joseph Gilmartin from Nenagh.

However Nedal Izdden of the White Helmets says they are a group solely dedicated to helping people in Syria.
