Tipperary Gardai are warning locals about a text scam doing the rounds.
They say they’ve had a number of reports of a message from ‘Gov.ie’ which informs recipients that they are entitled to a household benefits package and other such state benefits, and asks recipients to click on a link to forward their bank details.
The person will then get a phone call purporting to be from their bank, informing them that they have been scammed and that the bank now needs to take possession of their bank card.
The next step will see a courier calling to their house to collect the card.
Gardai say we should be wary of any texts requesting personal bank details, never disclose your bank details and PIN, and never hand over your bank card to anyone.
