Tipp County Council is being urged to to issue a derelict order immediately for an unfinished housing development in Carrick on Suir before its completely destroyed by vandals.

There are 14 vacant properties at Hazel Crescent in Greenhill which have been targeted in recent months with windows smashed, fires lit and some of the fittings removed.

Local Councillor David Dunne has welcomed the council’s decision to heed his warnings about the site and agree a derelict order is necessary.

Cllr Dunne says it needs to be issued now before the development is completely destroyed and the only option will be to level the homes.
