Threshold to highlight issues with Rent Supplement scheme.

The national housing charity will launch its pre-Budget advisory on Rent Supplement later today.

Threshold will highlight the measures it believes can ensure effective reform and ease pressure on the private rented sector.

Yesterday, the Environment Minister confirmed that housing needs would dominate Budget 2015. Tipperary TD Alan Kelly said it was “top of the agenda”.

Bob Jordan, Chief Executive of Threshold has outlined some of the key issues with the current rent supplement scheme. He says rents are rising rapidly but and supplements are not keeping pace while the way the rent supplement system operates is not attractive to landlords.
