PAWS, which are based in Mullinahone, say they are currently €41,000 in debt with mounting vet bills.

The rescue centre is currently caring for 100 dogs, over 40 of which are greyhounds – the centre could be forced to close its doors unless their financial situation improves.

In order to try and raise some much needed funds, the charity has launched a 'Paws for a Cuppa' campaign where they are asking people to hold a tea party in their house.

Gina Hetherington, who runs the rescue centre, says they just can't cope with the amount of abandoned animals.
