Over 30 thousand people thronged to Thurles last night to welcome home the All Ireland hurling champions.

Both Michael Ryan's Seniors and Liam Cahill's Minors took home the spoils at Croke Park on Sunday following victories over Kilkenny and Limerick.

There wasn't even standing room when the team buses pulled up at Semple Stadium shortly after 7 pm.

Addressing the jubilant and vocal fans – Senior Hurling Captain Brendan Maher said they were overwhelmed by the support.

While for his part Minor Manager Liam Cahill urged clubs across the county to continue to support hurling at underage level.
