Thomas Martens claims self-defence in murder trial

Thomas Martens has testified he hit Jason Corbett until he thought the Limerick man couldn’t kill him.

The Former FBI agent and his daughter Molly Martens Corbett are accused of second degree murder.

They claim Mr. Corbett was choking Molly and threatening to kill her, and they acted in self-defence.

Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent Ralph Riegal is covering the murder trial in Lexington, North Carolina.

He says when the prosecution asked Mr Martens if it was an intentional decision to strike Jason Corbett, Mr Martens answered ‘yes’.
