Theft from Tipperary voluntary group condemned

The theft of vital equipment from the Carrick on Suir River Rescue group has been described as an attack on the entire community.

The volunteer group had been planning to help out with a triathlon in the town last weekend.

However a speedboat which had been tied up at the marina was stolen sometime between 9 o'clock on Saturday night and 9 the following morning.

While the boat has since been recovered its 15 horsepower Yamaha outboard motor is still missing.

Local Councillor Kieran Bourke says people in Carrick are angered by this attack on the voluntary group, describing those responsible as “low-life”.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Carrick on Suir Garda station on 051 640024.
