A protest is taking place in North Tipp this morning as locals take a stand about the state of local roads in Terryglass.

The protest has been organised by a number of local residents who say that road conditions in the area are dangerous as a result
of neglect from Tipperary County Council

The road in question is a 1.7 kilomtre stretch of the road between Borrisokane and Terryglass, which local residents claim hasn’t been subject to any major works in almost 30 years.

Later on this morning, a group of local residents will close the road, in what they say is a silent protest against the state of the roads and the Councils refusal to allocate funding for repair works.

Tipperary County Council say that the section of road in question is not on any current budget for works but locals warn that their tourism industry is also under threat due to the condition of the road, as the road forms part of the Tipperary Cycle route which draws thousand of tourists each year.

The protest will get underway at 11 o’clock this morning
