Progress is being made on expansion plans for a school serving a significant part of North Tipperary.

St Anne’s Community College in Killaloe is the main secondary school for the Ballina area.

Tenders have been received for the works which are now being considered.

A report will then be sent to the Department of Education for a final decision.

Speaking on Tipp Today Tipperary Fianna Fail TD Jackie Cahill said the catchment area for the school has been expanding on both sides of the Shannon in recent years leading to the need for increased capacity.
