Tipperary Co Co safe from WannaCry attack

The Head of Tipperary County Council has moved to reassure the public that its computer systems were unaffected by the ransomware virus that swept the globe.

Communications Minister Denis Naughton said every agency of the state was a target of the Wanna Cry cyber attack but the software did not get acccess to government departments.

Over 120 countries were hit and the only Irish incident was at a Wexford based healthcentre linked to the HSE.

Speaking to Tipp FM News Tipp County Council CEO Joe McGrath says they were well prepared in the event of an attack and all sensitive information is fully protected.
