People Before Profit Deputy Gino Kenny TD will be in Clonmel this afternoon to discuss “The case for medicinal cannabis”.

The campaign to put pressure on the government to legalise cannibas based products has stepped up in recent months, due to coverage of Cork-woman Vera Twomey’s case.

Her daughter suffers from a severe form of epilepsy, and she was detained at Dublin airport earlier this year after she attempted to bring in medicinal cannabis for her.

Deputy Kenny will be speaking about this and a range of issues in Hearn’s Hotel at 3 o’ clock.

He says that classifying cannabis in the same band as crack cocaine isn’t right.
