Taoiseach wants to push plans on new Garda Training College

The Taoiseach says he wants agreement on setting up a new seperate Garda Training College as part of government formation talks.

Simon Harris was speaking at the attestation ceremony for 169 new Gardai in Templemore yesterday.

The Fine Gael election manifesto included a plan to set up a second college to help recruitment.

It’s sparked fears locally that Templemore could be downgraded as a result.

Mr Harris says he absolutely means to push that plan in the next government.
