Suspended sentence for Tipperary man on coercion charges.

A County Tipperary man has been given a suspended jail term for attempted blackmail.

57 year old Peter McGrath of Barronstown, Tipperary had already pleaded guilty to the attempted coercion of Martin Quinn of Tipperary Town.

The court had heard that McGrath had called to the former Muintir na Tire presidents house in December 2009.

He had a fake photo of Martin Quinn with a semi-naked young female.

An 18 month suspended prison sentence was imposed yesterday while an offer of €3,000 compensation was declined by Mr Quinn.
