Suir Pharma workers offered re-training

Former workers at Suir Pharma in Clonmel are being encouraged to attend a meeting with various local and stage agencies

134 staff at the pharmaceutical plant are without a job following the appointment of a provisional liquidator last week.

Despite some of them having over 40 years service at the company they will be left with just statutory redundancy.

An Interagency Group is now taking steps to ensure the Suir Pharma workers are given every opportunity to get back into the workforce.

CEO of Tipperary County Council Joe McGrath says because of the sudden closure of the pharmaceutical plant they are having problems in contacting former workers about an information evening next month.
