Up to ten thousand people from Tipperary and Kilkenny are expected to travel by rail to Dublin for the All Ireland Final.

Up until yesterday morning, hurling fans around the county could not book their tickets for train services to and from Dublin for the big match due to the threat of industrial action at Irish Rail.

Following marathon talks, the strike has been called off and tickets are now on sale. Irish Rail says that one service is already booked out.

The company says that all scheduled train services to Dublin on Sunday morning will be full before the weekend – in response Iarnrod Eireann has announced an additional service to get hurling fans to Croker on time.

The extra train will leave Limerick Junction at 8.58 on Sunday morning; it will call at Thurles and Templemore before arriving at Heuston station at 10.45am.

Intending passengers can book their seats online at www.irishrail.ie
