Stroke deaths to rise by 80% in Ireland

The death rate from stroke in Ireland is expected to increase by more than 80 per-cent over the next 20 years.

The Stroke Alliance of Europe says the figures are “seriously worrying”.

Chris Macey is from the Irish Heart Foundation and says it’s a due to ageing population who need to be better educated on their health.

Mr Macey says averting that crisis isn’t a matter of money, but one of better investment in treatments used.
