South Tipp General have just issued a statement calling on members of the public to stay away in case of real emergency while the Tyone health facility is dealing with multiple influenza cases.
This latest appeal from South Tipp General comes a week after the Clonmel health facility experienced some of its worst overcrowding with more than 40 patients on trolleys and chairs awaiting admission.
Now management have imposed a widespread visitor ban across the campus due to the high level of admissions the increasing numbers of people suffering from respiratory illnesses.
Loved ones are being restricted from all wards except when visiting family members who are critically ill in ICU/CCU or the stroke unit and only parents can visit children in paediatrics- maternity visits are also restricted to a partner or next of kin
Yesterday Nenagh hospital also imposed restrictions due to an outbreak of influenza
There have been 7 confirmed cases with six further patients symptomatic
Both hospitals are urging those with flu symptoms to stay away from the health facilities at this time
