Efforts to reduce serious overcrowding at South Tipperary General Hospital have received a boost.
The Department of Health has now sanctioned almost 2 dozen midwifery and nursing posts at the Clonmel health facility.

This includes 17 nursing appointments, 2 midwifery posts which were permanently filled in recent months, while 4 locums are now also in place to cover maternity leave.
Junior Minister and Tipperary TD Tom Hayes accepts it won't solve overcrowding but will help ease the crisis.
