South Tipp Man raid victim ‘relieved’ as final suspect sentenced

34 year old Paul Lonergan of Aileen, Donohill, Tipp Town was jailed for 2 years for conspiring to commit theft in connection with the violent incident at Thomas Keevan's home at Cregg House in Carrick on Suir in 2009.

The licenced firearms dealer, his partner Rita along with his teenage daughter and a family friend were targettd by a gang who threatened to shoot them before escaping with over 40 guns, cash and the family car.

Clonmel Circuit Court heard Mr Lonergan provided the gang with clothing for the raid and was jailed for 2 years- with a further two suspended.

He is the fourth person behind bars over the raid – two others were also convicted but escaped jail.

The court heard the burglary had a catastropic effect on the victims and Mr Lonergan apologisd to them but speaking to Tipp FM afterwards, Tonnie Keevan didn't believe it was heartfelt.
