New rules for the building sector are being described as over the top by members of South Tipperary County Council.
The new Building Control Regulations come into force on March 1st with many Councillors claiming that they will add thousands to the cost of building a house or extension.

At present engineers can oversee the whole building process – the new legislation will limit this to registered architects, chartered engineers or registered building surveyors.
Councillor Marie Murphy says the new rules are excessive.
