The Social Protection Minister has defended the citizens' assembly, saying that's where the Marriage Equality referendum started.
Leo Varadkar argued that Marriage Equality vote was considered by a convention before being called.
He also said what would replace the 8th amendment needs to be properly considered.
Minister Varadkar says some campaigners are calling for a repeal without considering the constitutional aspects.
