However University Hospital Limerick, which is the main A&E for North Tipperary patients, now has the highest number of people stuck on trolleys.
Latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there are currently 27 people stuck on trolleys and chairs awaiting a bed at South Tipp General Hospital – 18 in the Emergency Department and a further 9 on the wards.
That's down from 46 yesterday – when the Clonmel Health facility had the highest number of patients on trolleys in the country for the second day running.
However there is no good news for north Tipperary patients as University Hospital Limerick – the main A&E for the Mid West- has 44 patients waiting for a bed, making it the worst affected in the country today.
Nursing representatives insist the serious overcrowding at both facilities is due in no small part to lack of bed capacity.
