Sinn Fein critical of higher than expected meter installation costs.

The Government have yet to respond to media reports that suggest Bord Gáis underestimated the cost of the Irish Water metering programme by over €100 million.

Sinn Fein is hitting out at the coalition after it emerged that the cost of installing water meters may be €108 million higher than the detailed estimate provided to the Government over 18 months ago.

In the figures from May 2013, the estimate of the entire cost of the metering programme came to over €431 million – but, just weeks later it emerged that the final cost was €539 million.
