The SIMI have recommended the introduction of a swappage scheme which would see a 2000 Euro reduction in VRT for anyone trading in a car 6 years or older.

Brian Cooke of the SIMI says such a deal would boost car sales as it would it reduce the cost of car tax for buyers.
