Sharp rise in claims involving uninsured drivers

The number of motor insurance claims involving uninsured drivers has risen by almost 20 per cent this year. 

Figures from the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland show there's been an increase in the number of claims in 20 counties.

Tipperary had an 11% increase in the amount of claims involving uninsured drivers from January to June. 

In 2015 there were 35 incidents, while this year that has risen to 39. 

Dublin, Cork and Galway had the highest increase according to the figures.
