Sergeant of Cahir Garda Station says “Speed limit is not a target”

The new speed limits on local roads in rural parts of Tipperary have been in force for just over a week.

As part of the Government’s Road Safety Strategy the maximum on these roads has been reduced from 80 to 60 kilometres per hour.

Over the coming months reductions will also be made in urban areas.

Many motorists have expressed confusion regarding the changes – however Sergeant in Charge at Cahir Garda station Carol O’Leary says the revised speed limit signs are plain to be seen.
