Sentencing adjourned in Tipperary rape case.

A father-of-four convicted of raping a woman he had asked to clean his house in County Tipperary has offered €10,000 to his victim.

The 47 year old, who cannot be identified to protect his victim’s identity, had pleaded not guilty to raping the woman at the house on July 5th, 2010. He was convicted by a jury, at the end of a trial in May.

The man admitted having sex with the then 23-year-old woman at the house but told Gardai it was consensual and that she had not shown any fear.

The court heard that the victim returned to her native country a short time after the incident.

Mr Justice White adjourned sentencing until October 8 and remanded the man on continuing bail.
