Senator says members of Upper House should highlight its work more.

A prominent Senator has claimed that members of the Seanad are to blame for the lack of publicity given to their work.

Welcoming the results of the weekend's referendum Fergal Quinn admitted that the public perception of the Upper House isn't boosted by its Senators.

Both North and South Tipperary voted by the slimmest of margins to abolish the Seanad.

However normal Dáil business will be suspended tomorrow to discuss Seanad reform in the wake of the people's decision nationally to retain it.

Fergal Quinn claims the Seanad has its uses, even if it's not always obvious to voters.
