The Littleton man was elected on the 1st count securing 205 of the 254 votes at the party's selection convention in The Ragg this evening.
He saw off trainee solicitor and former Thurles Town Councillor Ger Fogerty and Thurles publican Pat Hayes.

This is third time lucky for Sean Ryan who contested and narrowly missed out on a co-opted seat in 2006 and then the county council elections in 2009.
