David Cameron says the Scottish independence debate has been “settled for a generation” and now's the time for the “United Kingdom to come together and to move forward”.
The British Prime Minister has been speaking on the steps of Downing Street – as Scotland votes to stay part of the UK.
One council has still to return their result but more than 1.9 million people chose to support Better Together – which works out as 55 per cent of the vote.
Turnout has been huge – with more than 84 percent of people voting.
Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond this morning accepted defeat, but warned that Westminster promises that were made to try and sway voters must be kept.
